Embracing the Ayurvedic Tradition

The Ashvins (also called the Ashvini Kumaras or Asvinau) are the divine twin gods of medicine and health in Vedic Hinduism. Born as the radiant offspring of the sun god Surya and his wife Sanjna, they ride a golden chariot drawn by ever-vigorous horses, speeding across the sky to bring aid and renewal to mortals and gods alike. Their youth, beauty, and strength are eternal, and they are revered as the heavenly physicians who can cure any malady. Known individually as Nasatya (the elder, god of health) and Dasra (the younger, god of medicine), the Ashvins embody the duality of healing—balancing physical remedy with spiritual rejuvenation.
